200 jobs aim for Warrington call centre

More than new 200 jobs could be created at a former Vodafone call centre in Warrington.

Scottish outsourcing firm HEROtsc struck a six-year strategic partnership with Vodafone in May that safeguarded jobs for the current 600-strong workforce.
Now HEROtsc is looking to utilise empty space at the Birchwood Park site, which could house another 200 staff.
The centre currently still serves Vodafone customers, but the new recruits would be likely to work with customers of other HEROtsc clients, which include T-Mobile, Sky and HSBC.
The company is hoping to create the positions over the next 18 months.
Speaking at the official handover of the site from Vodafone yesterday (Wednesday), HEROtsc chief executive David Turner said: “In difficult times for the economy and the contact centre sector, the longevity of this partnership brings stability to Birchwood Park.
“Looking to the future, we would hope to use our contacts in the industry and sector experience to bring more work – and there for more jobs – to our new Warrington site.
“Our site has the capacity to expand and we have willing allies in the local council and the Northwest Regional Development Agency in bringing more jobs here."
HEROtsc has 10 call centres in the UK and one in India
