It is understood Anderson Manning Associates on the Newtownards Road in the town was recently put into administration.
A source at the company told the BBC that about 95% of staff have been told that Friday will be their last working day.
Earlier this year, the company's managing director Kevin Houston got an OBE for services to business.
Mr Houston bought the business in January 2009 with the backing of private equity.
