Geoban UK, a subsidiary of the banking giant, plans to close its Solent site and move operations to other locations in the UK – primarily Bradford and Teesside.
Geoban, which operates its business from 15 locations, employs 160 people in Solent.
If the decision is made to close the Solent site, all staff will be offered relocation or redeployment to other roles in the region.
A 90-day consultation period has started.
Santander said: “There is never a good time to announce changes such as this and we are acutely aware of the uncertainty staff are facing. We would thank them for their continued professionalism and co-operation.”
The announcement is part of a strategic review of its UK locations was announced in December 2008. In February, Santander said the Alliance and Leicester site in Ashford, Kent would be closing, moving operations to Narborough, Leicestershire and Bootle, Merseyside.
