Liverpool Direct Limited (LDL), the call centre and IT joint venture with the city council and BT, held a BBQ at the Marriot hotel for 200 of its staff while the Liverpool council has cancelled its own Be Proud awards for its staff.
Council staff who are loosing colleagues to redundancy are unhappy that the LDL staff are celebrating. The parties were for the company’s 10th anniversary and over 400 in total of their staff will be attending the BBQs.
This week will also see LDL’s annual Pride award ceremony for staff. Liverpool council however have cancelled its own Be Proud awards for its staff in light of the more than 1,200 redundancies it has to make.
After calls by council staff to cancel their events a spokesperson for LDL said that they would not apologise for recognising the efforts of staff.
