Indian company Firstsource Solutions, which took over the Barclaycard office in Thornaby, near Stockton, last year, has been consulting with its 700 staff who face options which include early retirement, voluntary redundancy or re-deployment within the group.
Mumbai-based Firstsource needs an initial 200 staff for its 500-capacity Middlesbrough call centre, which is expected to open this summer.
Firstsource said that, following discussions with the union Unite, about 90 per cent of staff had secured their first choice option and that no one would face compulsory redundancy. << Archive
