Cabin crew are threatening to stage a three-day walkout starting tomorrow (Saturday) unless the union Unite and the airline can reach agreement during further talks today.
BA has opened an extra call centre manned by staff volunteers to help customers who have seen their flights cancelled find flights on alternative airlines.
Some 40 other airlines have agreed to work with the BA contact centre to ensure that customers who attempt to rebook during a strike can rebook free of charge on alternative carriers.
BA said that during the first three-day strike it will operate all longhaul flights to and from Gatwick and more than half of shorthaul flights at the airport.
All flights to and from London City airport will also be unaffected by the strike and the airline said it will operate a full schedule of longhaul services at London Gatwick, to The Maldives, Tampa, Orlando, Egypt and Caribbean destinations during the strike period. It will also operate more than half of its shorthaul network at Gatwick. << Archive
