The decision comes after the firm carried out a review of its operations aimed at consolidating its activities into a smaller number of centres.
BT said the site at Glen Nevis Business Park would close during the 2010/11 financial year.
The call centre, which is run by Manpower, was set up in 2001.
The company said its centres in Alness and Thurso had also been part of the review, but would remain open after reaching an agreement with Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) to sign new 10-year leases for both sites.
A BT spokeswoman said unions and staff at Fort William were told of the decision last week.
She added: "We will agree a closure date within the next few weeks and will communicate to the team in early May.
"Our priority now, with the assistance of Manpower, is to be able to clearly communicate to the team what our exit strategy is and to give them a timeframe for this to be completed.
"We will also be working closely with Manpower to help people find alternative work within the community." << Archive
