Siemens IT Solutions (SIS) says that losing its contract with Yell makes keeping their employees in Cork untenable.
Negotiations with Yell have meant that the call centre is to close and all 24 staff are to transfer to the Yell facility there.
A spokesperson for The Communications Workers' Union says that asking workers to move with only a few weeks notice is totally unacceptable.
"I think it's fair to say that transferring from Cork to Reading is not a practical option for these people," he said.
"They have families, they have mortgages…We're somewhat shocked that Siemens would take this hard-line approach."
SIS says "It always acts responsibly in dealing with its employees and is consulting with affected staff."
